Troubleshooting Display Issues
If your resolution settings are greyed out or you're experiencing other display issues:
1. Check your cable connections - try disconnecting and reconnecting the video cable
2. Try a different cable or port if available (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, etc.)
3. Update your display drivers:
• Check for Windows updates
• Update graphics card drivers through your laptop manufacturer's website or graphics card manufacturer's support page
4. If you're experiencing screen flickering:
• Restart your laptop
• Contact technical support if the issue persists, especially if your device is under warranty
5. For issues with docking stations:
• Unplug the docking station from power and reconnect it
• Try a different docking station if available
• Test the docking station with another computer to determine if the issue is with the dock or your computer
• Update your docking station firmware if available
• Watch for signs that your docking station may need replacement: intermittent disconnections when moving the USB-C cable, monitors shutting off unexpectedly, or peripheral devices losing power even when connected to the dock
6. Always restart your computer after making display changes
7. For office environments with inconsistent monitor behavior:
• Consider trying a different brand of docking station (e.g., switching from Lenovo to Startech)
• Contact your IT support team for assistance with persistent issues
Remember that regular updates to your graphics drivers can prevent many common display issues. If problems persist after trying these solutions, contact technical support for further assistance.
