Managing Fathom Account Access
This guide provides instructions for managing Fathom accounts, including transferring access when employees leave, recovering access to accounts, and troubleshooting common issues.
Taking Over a Fathom Account from a Former Employee
When you need to take over a Fathom account previously managed by someone who has left the company, follow these steps:
- Contact Fathom Support to confirm their account transfer policies
- If you have admin access to the account, reset the account password
- Create a new user account for yourself within the Fathom platform
- Send an invitation to the new user (your account)
- Grant the new user full admin rights
- Remove the former employee's access once the transition is complete
Transferring or Reassigning a Fathom Account
Important: Fathom accounts cannot be directly transferred between users. Instead, follow this process:
- Gain access to the existing account (through admin privileges or by contacting Fathom Support)
- Create a new user invitation for the replacement employee
- Grant the new user admin rights within the platform
- Remove the previous user's access from the account
Resetting Your Fathom Password
If you're unable to log in to your Fathom account:
- Navigate to the Fathom login page
- Click the "Forgot Password" link
- Enter your registered email address
- Check your email for a password reset link
- Click the link in the email to create a new password
- Use your new password to log in to your account
Troubleshooting Password Reset Issues
If you don't receive a password reset email after requesting one:
- Check your spam or junk email folders
- Verify that you're using the correct email address associated with your Fathom account
- Wait a few minutes as email delivery may be delayed
- If your Fathom account is provisioned through Google and you were expecting a temporary password email, contact your IT/support team and let them know you did not receive it. Your IT/support team can reset the account password and provide a new temporary password or otherwise assist with sign-in.
- After using the new temporary password to sign in, you will be prompted to choose a new permanent password. Confirm back to your IT/support team once you can sign in successfully.
- If you still can't sign in after trying the above, contact Fathom's support team for further assistance.
