Restoring the PDFlyer (Audit Tools) Add-In in Adobe Acrobat

PDFlyer (also called Audit Tools or PDF Flyer) is an add-in for Adobe Acrobat that enables features such as stamps, outline boxes, workpaper markups, and a 10-key calculator. If these tools disappear after an update or change to your setup, you can usually restore them by reinstalling or re-importing the add-in.

When you should restore PDFlyer / Audit Tools

You may need to restore the PDFlyer or Audit Tools add-in if:

• You no longer see PDFlyer or Audit Tools in Adobe’s Tools pane.
• The Audit Tool shortcut is missing from your customized PDF toolbar.
• Features like stamps, outline boxes, calculation tape, or workpaper markups are no longer available.
• The 10-key calculator inside Acrobat has disappeared.

These issues commonly occur after software updates or changes to your PDF application.

Restoring PDFlyer / Audit Tools in Adobe Acrobat

To restore PDFlyer or Audit Tools in Adobe Acrobat, reinstall or re-import the add-in into your Adobe installation.

1. If PDFlyer or the Audit Tools add-in is currently installed but not working, uninstall the existing PDFlyer plugin/add-in.
2. Reinstall or import the PDFlyer/Audit Tools add-in into Adobe Acrobat.
3. After the installation completes, open a PDF (for example, the engagement or workpaper PDF you normally use).
4. Check Adobe’s Tools pane on the right to confirm that PDFlyer appears again.
5. Verify that the Audit Tool shortcut is present in your customized toolbar and that tools such as text box, text, highlighter, adding lines, stamps, outline boxes, the calculation tape, and workpaper markups are available.
6. If you use the 10-key calculator, confirm it is accessible through the restored PDFlyer add-in.

Restoring Audit Tools in other PDF applications

If you use Audit Tools (or PDF Flyer) in a PDF application other than Adobe Acrobat, you can restore it by reconnecting or importing the add-in.

1. Re-import or reconnect the Audit Tools plugin/add-on in your PDF application.
2. Once the plugin is connected, open a PDF file.
3. Check your customized toolbar or tools area to confirm the Audit Tool shortcut has returned.
4. Verify that associated tools such as text box, text, highlighter, adding lines, and other markup features are available.

If you cannot install add-ins yourself

If you do not have permission to install, import, or uninstall add-ins on your computer, you may not be able to restore PDFlyer or Audit Tools on your own.

• Contact your IT administrator or Adobe administrator and request that they import or install the Audit Tools/PDFlyer add-in for you.
• If a reinstall is needed, ask your IT team to uninstall the existing PDFlyer plugin/app and then reinstall it so it shows again in Adobe’s Tools pane and restores your workpaper markup and calculator features.

After your administrator completes these steps, open a PDF and confirm that the PDFlyer or Audit Tools features have returned.
