How can I manually install the Engagement or Workpaper Manager plugin for Adobe Acrobat or Reader?

Environment

• CCH ProSystem fx Engagement
• CCH ProSystem fx Workpaper Manager

Procedure

Note: These steps for Acrobat Reader can only be done for Engagement and Workpaper Manager versions 2022 and below. As of Engagement 2023, CCH no longer provides an Engagement plugin for Acrobat Reader.

Copy the required API file in the following file location:

• Copy the API file from Pfx Engagement > WM > Utilities. 
• For Adobe® Acrobat® use "PfxEngagementx.api."
• For Adobe® Reader® use "PfxEngagx.api."
• Adobe® must be closed before you replace the API file. 

Standard file locations to copy the API file:

• For Reader: "?:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat #\Reader\Plug_ins."
  • On a 64-bit operating system: "?:\Program files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat #\Reader\Plug_ins."
• For Standard and Professional: "?:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat #\Acrobat\Plug_ins."
  • On a 64-bit operating system: "?:\Program files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat #\Acrobat\Plug_ins."

If the Engagement or Workpaper Manager menu still does not appear in Adobe:

1. Open Adobe Acrobat or Reader.
2. Click Edit and select Preferences.
3. Depending on your Adobe version, the options in the next steps are either under Start up or General.
4. Under Application Startup, verify that Use only certified plug-ins is not checked.
5. If it is checked, clear the box.
